Arminda Brooks, MSW. LICSW (she/her)
If you're feeling exhausted from constantly masking, trying to fit into expectations that don’t match who you are, or wondering what parts of you are truly you, you’re not alone, and you don’t have to figure it out by yourself. Whether you’re a late-diagnosed adult beginning to re-examine old messages, or a parent navigating support for your neurodivergent child, I offer a space that’s curious, affirming, and collaborative. I work with autistic and ADHD clients, kids, grown-ups, and those still figuring it out. I love working with those who are interested in exploring their values, identities, and strengths outside of systems that often pathologize difference. Our work together might look like gently unmasking, untangling internalized shame, or finding new ways to relate to the world that feel more like you.
My approach is strengths-based, person-centered, and anti-oppressive. I welcome all forms of communication, play, art, stimming, storytelling, writing, or sitting in shared silence. Sessions are a space where systemic shame and imposed messaging can be named and challenged, and where humor, self-compassion, and creativity are always welcome.
Outside of therapy, you’ll find me reading, painting, taking long walks, writing, or hanging out with my cat, Oolong (who is very pro-neurodivergence).
Specialties: Individual therapy throughout the lifespan (infant through late adulthood) exploring experiences related to neurodiversity, anxiety, depression, attachment-ruptures, identity-exploration, trauma (EMDR-trained), and challenges around self-compassion and self-worth
