Courtney Rakkaus, MA (she/her)
Accepting clients Feb 2026
Hello, I’m Courtney! I am so glad you found your way here.
I identify as an anti-oppressive therapist, an approach firmly-rooted in social justice, anti-racism, and intersectionality. In our work together, we will consider not only your personal history but also the cultural and societal expectations placed upon you, and how you’ve made meaning of those experiences. Anti-oppressive therapy also aims to name, challenge, and dismantle oppression, even on a micro-scale.
As a therapist, I don’t believe in creating an artificial power dynamic in session and prefer to meet you as a fellow human, imperfections and all. I believe it’s possible to show up authentically while still maintaining professional boundaries. My approach is strengths-based, client-centered, and infused with psychoeducation to help you better understand your challenges and equip you with coping skills that feel accessible and effective. My communication style tends to be direct, but I also understand feedback is best received when offered with warmth and gentleness, and I welcome your feedback in return. Together, we will cultivate a therapeutic space that is safe, equitable, and rooted in mutual respect.
I specialize in working with LGBTQIA+ clients, polyamory, ethical non-monogamy, and kink. I love working with neurodivergence, especially late-diagnosed. I also specialize in infertility issues, trauma, and recovering from abuse or coercive control.
Outside of my professional role, I am a voracious reader and a huge nerd. At any given time, I typically have 4-6 books in progress, because how could I possibly choose just one? I love cozy crafts like crochet and cross-stitch, and my houseplant collection is ever-growing. I also enjoy PC and console gaming, typically cozy, sandbox-style games, but I also love playing spooky co-op games with friends. My go-to comfort move is Pride and Prejudice, specifically the 2005 version (OMG the hand flex).
If you are looking for a therapist who values authenticity, understands the impact of social systems on your mental health, is able to hold space with compassion and without judgement, please reach out. I would be honored to walk alongside you as you create meaningful change in your life.
