Amanda Timm, MA, R-DMT (Registered Dance/Movement Therapist)
Hey there! I’m Amanda! Welcome to the wild, wonderous, bewildering journey of self-discovery! Healing isn't linear, and my path to this work certainly wasn't either. My background is in dance, choreography, and performance art, and a loooooong history of working in hospitality. It was through a deep, personal creative project, lots of mistakes, and world travel that I truly learned what self-acceptance and empowerment feel like, and I’m here to help you find your own version of that.
As a therapist, I use a person-centered, collaborative approach, meaning I will be your co-pilot as we navigate the human experience, and you will be the one with the map. I’ve so far spent my career supporting teens and adults with sexual abuse, trauma, substance use, and grief, as well as the "everyday" struggles of anxiety, depression, and those tricky cycles of codependency and self-esteem challenges.
I have learned that our stories live in our tissues, not just our heads. Sometimes, just talking about our issues isn’t enough to move the needle. Because of my background in dance and movement, I love to bring the body into the room. We’ll use creativity and adaptability to explore what works for you and your capacity today, not some textbook version of "healing."
Expect a space where we can be real, get a little creative, and gently lean into those "growing edges" together. Whether we’re talking it out or using movement to conceptualize how you’re feeling, we’re going to focus on building a relationship where you feel safe enough to be exactly who you are.
Lastly, and most importantly, true wellness cannot exist in a vacuum. I am committed to a collaborative, anti-oppressive approach that challenges systemic injustic, and I am dedicated to the lifelong learning required to work from a truly decolonized and liberatory perspective. This means we don't just look at what's happening inside you, but also the world around you and how those systems impact your well-being.
