Clair Anderson, MA, LMFT (she/her)
Do you ever feel like you’re “too much” or “not enough”? Life can feel overwhelming when you’re stuck in old patterns or trying to navigate a world that wasn’t built for the way your brain works. In our work together, we’ll slow things down and get curious, so you can reconnect with yourself, build clarity, and create meaningful change.
Parenting is HARD. Where is the manual!? Do you find yourself feeling overwhelmed only to hear your mother or father come out of your mouth after swearing (pre-kids) that you would never parent like they did?
Are you curious about "gentle parenting" but aren't sure if it's for you? Do you struggle with finding your own parenting balance between "giving in" and having rules and structure you can stick to? Spoiler alert: There is no such thing as a perfect parent, so let's figure out your best parent self together!
In therapy, I create a space where you can feel seen and supported, while helping you find clarity and make changes that feel right for YOU. Whether you are processing the past or striving to feel more like yourself in the present, our work will stay grounded in the therapeutic relationship and the inner strengths and wisdom you already possess.
My natural inclinations to therapy work bend toward a holistic blend of systemic, somatic, cognitive, and psychodynamic approaches. I am guided by intuition, creativity, authenticity, compassion, and collaboration. I specialize in working with all parents, adults, teens, and families in any/all life transitions. Those who are navigating ADHD/ASD diagnosis and treatment or those ready to go deep have particularly resonated with my approach. One of my favorite therapy quotes comes from team therapist, Dr. Sharon in the TV show, Ted Lasso, "The truth will set you free, but first it will piss you off."
I will explore the depths with you as you [re]connect with your own inner wisdom and create meaningful, empowered change. This is a privilege I do not take lightly. I commit to continuing to learn, make mistakes, and be fully human in our work together. We are hard-wired for connection and not meant to do this deep work alone.
One of my first languages is movement and dance. I have been dancing for as long as I can remember. I received more formal training as I got older and continued dancing, creating choreography, and teaching dance through college and after, until 2016 when I shifted focus to learning and developing my skills as a marriage and family therapist. Now that I've been fully licensed as an LMFT for a few years, my hope is to begin finding a new voice that integrates both modalities and see how that might fit within my healing voice and practice.
Outside of the therapy office, you might find me supporting my kids in their extracurricular activities, playing games or hanging out with friends, going to concerts (I LOVE music), taking photos, and, at the end of August, roaming around the MN State Fairgrounds (Ask to see my MN tattoo with the Fair skyline!)
**Special shout out to Bitty & Beau's Coffee Shop in DC for the awesome shirt in my photo!
