Lindsey Chapman, MA (She/Her)
Are you carrying the weight of past or present experiences that keep you distanced from yourself, struggling to connect with your body, the people around you, or the possibility of something different? You may experience the stress of life leaving you unable to extend compassion or care to yourself. You might feel disconnected from your body or unsure how to navigate intimacy with yourself or others in a way that actually feels good to you. You may struggle to express your needs and boundaries in your relationships, often leading to a sense of strain or tension. If any of these resonate with you, then you're in the right space to find healing and experience the power of change.
As a story seeker, I am all in on the story of past, present, and future you. Clients often understand who they are or what they can do as a product of the experiences of their lives, leading to cycles and patterns that leave them feeling stuck or hurting. Together, we work to untangle threads that lead to this ending, opening the door to change in how you see who you are and what could be. In some sessions, you may find that we talk through things, while in others we may walk through ways to connect with your body and nervous system, manage distress, or tap into parts of you that may feel distant. Your self-direction will be encouraged in sessions, with my presence as a guide to collaborate with and support you. By connecting with a whole sense of self through mind and body approaches, you can begin to see the strengths held within you and how you can use inner resources to make choices with intention and experience more positive outcomes in life.
My presence in our sessions is rooted in authenticity, compassion, and honoring the “humanness” that makes all of us who we are. My intention is to create a brave space where you can share all of your identities and maintain perspective on how that impacts you. As a queer provider, I understand the value in sitting with someone who has lived experience, which has informed my desire to primarily work with the LGBTQIA+ community. I strive to make a space that liberates queerness, understanding and celebrating it for all it can be. Some areas of specialty expertise that I also work with are clients who are trauma survivors and those who are experiencing concerns with all aspects of sexuality and sexual behavior/health. A spirit of humor is infused, no matter how we are approaching our time together. I am sex/sex worker-positive, fat positive/body liberation informed, HAES aligned, polyamory/ethical non-monogamy informed, and kink/BDSM aware.
Outside of the therapeutic space, I work to make 13 year old me proud by living my life as my truest, most free self. You can find me shamelessly indulging in good books, laughing as much as I possibly can, and making delightfully sh*tty crafts (because play is important!).
If you are looking for a therapist that leads with compassion and candor, please reach out. Life can be a colorful thing, and I would be honored to help you explore all the hues of you.
